I'm Back!!

I've been so fed up with the upcoming election and its attendant media Obamania that I've been laying low for awhile. Finally, I decided that it was time to come in from the cold and submit another blog entry.

Today, I have a real treat for you. It's an article that appeared on NationalReview.com over the weekend by Bill Whittle. It's entitled The Undefended City and it describes in some detail the factors that frequently go along with the fall of a great society. It's a great article and provides some food for thought in these perilous times.

Here's the link:

Though I still view this election (and possibly all of the elections of my adult life) as a "lesser of two evils" choice, that was a beautifully written essay. Regrettably, I have not found any method of approach, rhetoric, logic, or even the postmodern "personal story," that has swayed a single peer of mine. Though it is certainly possible that the flaw lies in me, the messenger, I am particularly astonished this year by the uncharacteristic behavior displayed by people I had thought to be not only fairly reasonable, but self controlled and kind. Matthew 7:16 "You shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thorns, or figs from thistles?" If Obama's campaign is producing this kind of fruit, why would we expect anything different if he became president?

At the risk of being considered superstitious, much of the venomous behavior that has been demonstrated by those on the left strikes me as being demonic in origin: the columns that advocate assassinating the President, accusing Todd Palin of incest, saying that Sara Palin was irresponsible in giving birth to a baby with a birth defect, etc., etc.

I really don't see the same on the right. There I see people who are filled with anxiety.

The answer to it all is for all Christians to pray, pray, pray, that God's will be done for our nation.

Prayer. Absolutely. You're preaching to the choir! . . . or at least one soprano and one tenor :)
